Project

GEMPLAY - Gendered games Motivating Physical ActivitY

Project

Jul 2014 - Jun 2016
This project aims to promote physical exercise by incorporating personalized, genderinclusive game experiences that reflect the preferences of various user types. Gender issues and their relevance for digital games used to encourage exercise will be thoroughly investigated. Structural models, personas and a user typology will be developed based on a comprehensive empirical analysis of individual characteristics and their correlations to exercise, gaming and persuadability. Gender-specific and inclusive game concepts will be designed, developed and evaluated (in terms of user acceptance and persuasiveness) in two phases. The results of the empirical study, game design, and evaluation will be utilized to create gender-inclusive design guidelines for games and for related follow-up projects.
