Research Group Knowledge Media & Engineering
The Knowledge Media research group focuses on the conception, development and introduction of learning and working environments supporting cooperative knowledge generation and communication (such as social networks resp. cooperative and adaptive systems) in the field of organizational learning. Moreover, the research group constructs knowledge-based systems using semantic web technologies. Currently, the research activities deal with following topics:
Creating Knowledge through Design: Develop, test and disseminate pedagogical models and (semantic) technologies that empower the knowledge creation through design.
Learning organizations and knowledge communication: Convert implicit knowledge into explicit knowledge, Design Thinking, operational patterns and methods for change and learning processes.
Human-Machine Interaction, collaborative and adaptive systems: Design, implementation and application of collaborative systems with focus on the interaction between human and machine as well as between human to human via machine.
Social web, information retrieval and semantic reasoning: Construction of knowledge bases and domain-specific ontologies, tightly focused application of semantic technologies in the field of knowledge integration, knowledge processing and knowledge extraction.
